General Questions

Are meals and accommodations really included in the course fees?

If you purchase the European Plan, we provide round-trip transfers to the Orlando area, shuttle bus around the Nature Coast, as well as ALL meals and accommodations starting with breakfast the day after check-in and lunch the day of check-out.

With the American Plan, accommodations are provided but meals & transportation are your responsibility.

Where in Florida are you located?

We are on the Nature Coast of Florida, approximately 1 hour North of Tampa and 90 minutes Northwest of Orlando, where several spring fed rivers flow into the Gulf of Mexico.

Are the books included in the course fees?

No. Text books and course related materials will total $60.00 (US) plus $20.00 shipping and handling for the contiguous United States. Alaska, Hawaii, and International Clients will have additional shipping costs. PADI open water class materials may be purchased at any PADI location or ordered when booking.

Are the PADI application processing fees included in the course fees?

Yes. All PADI certification fees are included in course cost.

How many students do you allow in your program?

We limit class sizes to six participants to ensure personalized attention and student's mastery of skills.

I have seen where SCUBA courses are being offered in two day formats. Why do you take most of a week?

We believe in giving the students all the time they need to truly master the skills required to make them safe and competent divers. We don't believe a two day "snap shot" is enough for either the student to master potential life saving techniques nor for the instructor to evaluate them, as well as imparting little nuances that will make the student look and feel comfortable in the water.

What dive equipment do I need to bring with me when taking courses at Florida Dive Adventures?

ALL equipment is provided. You only need to bring a towel and sunscreen. However, all SCUBA divers should possess at least their own mask, fins, and snorkels. We have arranged student discounts at dive stores in Orlando and Crystal River should the student wish to purchase anything.

What is the water temperature going to be in the pool and the Open Water training sites?

The water temperature at the springs is always 72 F (22 C) regardless of air temperatures. Pool sessions or "confined water" sessions may be either at a heated indoor pool or at a local shallow freshwater spring depending upon time of year and scheduling.

How should I prepare in advance for the courses I am taking at Florida Dive Adventure?

Although we encourage students to read and complete as much of the PADI instructional manual or DVD as possible, it is ESSENTIAL that students complete Chapter 1 prior to arrival or class progress may be severely delayed.

What is the best airport to fly into when traveling to the Crystal River/Homosassa area?

If taking the European Plan you must fly into Orlando to take advantage of the shuttle service. If taking the American Plan, either Orlando or Tampa will do, however, we are suggesting all arrangements be made through Orlando as the best Olympic sized indoor heated pool is on International Drive in Orlando. Your adventure will begin with a night in Orlando.

Do I need to rent a car while I am taking my courses at Florida Dive Adventure?

If you take the European Plan, NO!!! All transportation is provided. Just relax and let us take care of everything.
If you take the American Plan you will need your own transportation.

Do I need to have a medical examination by a doctor before I come to Florida?

You will need to download the Medical Questionnaire from the medical page and fill it out, and have it signed prior to arrival. An affirmative answer to ANY question will require medical authorization prior to arrival. Students MAY NOT start water work (pool or open water) prior to submitting a medical waiver or signed medical authorization if appropriate.

Do I have to pay all my course fees in advance?

YES!
